Consultation Fees and Charges

Fees vary with your age, and the services you require. We can give you an estimate over the phone depending on whether you want a consultation with a nurse or a doctor.

After hours

For after hours phone advice please call 03 327 7474 and you will be diverted to a Registered Nurse who will assess your problem and advise you what to do. For after hours GP care please go to the 24 hour Surgery.

Important Information

GP appointments are up to 15 minutes. We will try to see you the same day if possible. However, if your doctor is fully booked you will be offered another day or an appointment with one of the other doctors. If your problem is urgent please explain to the receptionist, who may ask you to talk to the nurse.

All emergencies will take priority and appointment times are approximate. An additional fee may be charged for complex or longer consultations. If you have a number of issues to discuss on the same day, please book a double appointment. Double appointments will be charged a double fee.

Payment Policy

At Kaiapoi Family Doctors, there is a pay on the day policy for all consultations. Payment can be made in house by Eftpos, cash, or via direct bank payment.

A non attendance fee of $25.00 may be charged for appointments that are cancelled without sufficient notice (at least 2 hours notice should be given prior to the appointment). An administration fee of $5 will apply to accounts not paid after 30 days. Accounts unpaid and sent for debt collection will have additional fees added.

If you are unable to pay on the day, please ask to speak with our Practice Manager who will talk with you in private.

Casual Patients

Casual patients are only seen if we have the capacity to do so. Casual patients are usually seen as a “one off consultation” for “urgent” care.

As we do not receive any funding for casual patients, rates for patients who are not enrolled are higher than our standard fee. Refer to the fee table above.
